brett meisner popular hollywood screenwriter at wga rally hollywood, confiscates tucker max laptop Many of you having been asking for some footage of me at the Writer’s Guild Strike rally in Hollywood last week. I was able to get the guys in the crew who are filming a documentary about me to throw together some snippets of me interacting with some fans and fellow writers. I am posting this video clip as a “tribute” video to “Quiet Riot” singer Kevin Dubrow who passed away on Sunday at age 52. Rest in Peace, Kevin.

WRITERS STRIKE UPDATE...

We have also continued to prowl around Hollywood coffeehouses looking for anyone who is violating the “pencils down” strike policy that calls for everyone to stop writing screenplays. If I catch you writing a script you either have to delete all files in front of me or you have to let us take your laptop and hold it until after the strike is over. I got 2 laptops on the day of the rally – one was from a New York Times best-selling author named Tucker Max. He has a website too – http://www.tuckermax.com -- He sold a TV pilot to Comedy Central last year, but was unable to afford the $1,500 registration fee to join the Writers Guild of America. Tucker failed to join the WGA and during that time Comedy Central decided to “pass” on his pilot. Long story short –Tucker Max got dropped like a hot potato. Anyways, he was apparently trying to write a screenplay about his own life and sell it as a feature film – but there were two major problems. 1) He was trying to write it during the WGA strike, and; 2) He was writing it in a restaurant that I happened to walk into on Tuesday. He refused to delete the files so I had no choice but to take the laptop from him. He actually started to cry as I walked away with his computer. I felt bad for him but rules are rules.

I have been storing all the laptops at my new gym in North Hollywood for safe keeping. We had a flood there this weekend after a pipe bursted and a few of the confiscated laptops got water-damaged. It was bad timing as the club is really picking up Val Kilmer came by to see the gym and is considering joining – although I could tell he was turned off by the flood situation and the odor from the water damage. Oh well, when life throws a curve ball I don’t sit around and moan about it – I grab the ball by the horns and say “bring it on”… According to Nikki Finke there might be some good news regarding the writers strike -- http://www.deadlinehollywooddaily.com/dare-we-hope-a-deal-has-been-struck/ -- but I’m not holding my breath. At least not for now…
